Let's start with the front office. Appointments are easy to schedule, they even double checked my insurance coverage, and printed out estimates for the work I needed done based on estimates of my insurance benefits. For me, that was above and beyond. I can't tell you how many times offices were so reluctant to give me any type of estimate on potential work when I asked. Or they were extremely cautious, making sure I understood it was just an estimate and might not even be very meaningful due to insurance fluctuations.

My hygienist - yes, I have my own hygienist which will see me through my bi-yearly appointments. Jaymi-Lyn was so informative and gentle. I loved that she talked me through every single step of what she's checking for, what this equipment does, and what I can check for myself at home. I also ask a lot of questions so I was glad at not only how patient she was, but how thorough her answers were. It feels wonderful to know I can continue to email her with questions that may arise before my next appointment.

Dr. Vasilakis - she was equally as gentle and warm as the rest of the staff. She listened to my concerns, my issues in the past, and how I wanted to proceed in the future with her. I'm so relieved to have the future of my tooth health in the hands of this wonderful office! read less

I happened upon this office based on the yelp reviews and I am very grateful. Everyone from the receptionists up to Maria is friendly and professional.

I have been here three times now, two cleanings and a cavity. The atmosphere is very relaxed and Maria fully explains everything before proceeding. In addition, she is not pushy when it comes to additional services. She suggested that I get a mouth guard, but didn't hound me like a used car salesman. Also, when we discussed teeth whitening, she said I could use Crest white strips if I had more time and didn't want to spend as much.

I recently moved to Southie, but keep coming back here because this is a dentist you keep for as long as you stay in Boston. read less

That is probably... read moreI live right across the street from Dr. Vasilakis, but for some reason the idea of a dentist in a split level house had me turned off. That is probably just an unfair bias from living in the area/city for too long and knowing how landlords are about upkeep with their properties. Well i have to say, i am sorry i did not put my biases aside sooner because i was more than pleased with my services from this office.

First of all, the idea of going to the dentist stresses me out. I had a very bad experience with my previous dentist and had not been in three years and i am a bit skeptical of the dental industry and the quality or service vs. the fees they charge.

Secondly, i have "weird" insurance (aka anything besides delta or blue cross dental) and placed several phone calls to area dentist to see if they accepted it, i was met with a no, confusion, or no help what-so-ever. The person who i spoke to on the phone at Dr. Vasilakis' office was very helpful with explaining to me that they did accept my insurance, but they were out of network. I was not sure what that entailed or how it would effect me and they explained it all out for me. This was my deciding factor in booking an appointment.

When i arrived at the office the receptionist was very friendly and the office was quite modern and clean. I was promptly brought into my room for x-rays and a cleaning. My hygienist, Jamie-Lynn (sp?) was great. She was very friendly and easy to talk to and made me feel relaxed. Also - the fact that the chairs have a built in massager did not hurt either. She took the time to go over my e-rays with me, as well as explaining everything she was doing. She was also very knowledgeable with the questions that i had about some issues i have going on. I also received the least stressful and painless cleaning ever!  

The Doctor came in and greeted me and was very friendly. She went over some areas of concern and a treatment plan, while explaining each procedure, why i needed it, and what it entailed. Nothing was pushed on me and it was a very easy experience overall. It was also nice to have a younger female doctor in a sea of what seems like a profession filled with 70 year old men with nose hairs and antiquated teachings. I was also pleased to hear about her and Jamie-Lynn's (sp?) humanitarian efforts in Honduras, if i remember correctly.

I would recommend Dr. Vasilakis to anyone in the area for a relaxed and professional dental environment! Glad i found them! read less

The front desk staff was super sweet, offered tea, and made the process smooth.

Jamie was AWESOME- she explained everything as she taking x-rays and cleaning my teeth, and made me feel at ease (the first time I have felt like that at the dentist). She discussed whitening options with me without pushing expensive treatments. Transparency is something I value in medical situations, and Dr. Maria's team is great about it. Everyone here is easy to talk to.

As someone who has avoided the dentist for years- I'm so happy I found this gem and won't be going anywhere else. 🙂 read less

Dr. Maria is great and extremely helpful and thorough. The staff at the front desk are very friendly and efficient; and the oral hygienists are also very nice and professional. I used to hate going to the dentist's, even for cleanings, but now that I have found this office, I don't hesitate anymore. I had tooth pain recently, and they were able to squeeze me in that same week. Don't let the fact that the office is on the first floor of a two-family house fool you. The office is very clean and the dental equipment seems to be up to date (however, I don't know anything about dental equipment, so I may be wrong), but the examination rooms have massage chairs and are clean. The waiting room is excellent with water, a Keurig machine, all sorts of magazines, books for the kids, great interior decor. The staff here are friendly and helpful, and it is always easy to schedule an appointment. Definitely helps that they are open early in the morning some days for those of us who are busy from 9-5. Sidenote, I have a crippling fear of the dentist, so I don't have one. I unfortunately developed, in the middle of the night a terrible toothache. I called as soon as the office was open praying that they could see me. Fortunately for me they had an opening pretty early. Everybody was so sweet and nurturing. Dr. Maria put almost all of my nerves to rest and got me situated with what I needed to take care of. I have found my new dentist I will go here without hesitation anytime. My first visit was a cleaning, and for the first time, the procedures, cleaning process, and x-rays were all explained and shown to me. No one has ever done this for me before at a dentist office, and it was such a lovely change of pace to understand what was going on. I ended up needing some cavities filled, and Dr. Vasilakis was very thoughtful, patient, and encouraging. I was pretty nervous, but Maria was very calming and gave me plenty of Novocain, so I didn't feel a thing! She also made sure to keep asking me if I was OK or if I felt anything, which I thought was very considerate. She is by far the best dentist I've ever visited and probably the best I'll ever have. I can't recommend her enough! If you are looking for a new dentist, look no further! read less

I had a family friend dentist growing up and after moving away felt I would never be able to replicate the same level of personalized care and trust. (I bounced around to different dentists and didn't realize how important trust was until I ended up needing 3 root canals after a dentist I was seeing didn't seal my teeth properly and I got cavities under every tooth he had drilled...). That's what brought me to Dr. Maria, and I feel so lucky to have found her. Her staff is really nice, the office has massage chairs, and most importantly she is a true expert and takes time for her patients. I had a cap come off this past weekend and she replied to my email promptly (7am on a Saturday), thoroughly answered my questions, and offered to squeeze me in right away. I had the cap done while she was out on maternity leave and she even offered to redo it if it comes off again at no cost. Dr. Maria is exceptional! read less

The massage chair you'll get your cleaning on is a nice touch! Dr Maria is kind, honest and professional. She's never tried to convince me I need a new filling or upsell in any way, as most other dentists have. The office is clean, bright and welcoming. They have early morning and evening appointments. Have never had an issue street parking. I live out of state now but still make sure to book here when I'm back home. read less
